About Me

My name is Becca Wilson, and I am so excited to be completing my student teaching at Margaret Elementary School.  I am finishing up my Master of Arts Degree in Education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and will graduate on May 11, 2013.  Prior to becoming a teacher, I  worked as a Child Life Specialist for almost 10 years in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Birmingham, Alabama, and Huntsville, Alabama with children and families in hospitals.  As a Child Life Specialist I had the privilege of serving patients diagnosed with cancer, burn victims, and children having surgery.

I have been married to my husband, Trav, for almost 9 years and we have two beautiful daughters - Alex who is 5 years old, and Lucy who is 3 years old.  I am a huge college football fan, and love the Florida State Seminoles.  My husband is an Auburn graduate, so I also cheer them on each year.  I have visited 25 of the United States as well as Canada, Scotland, South Korea, and the Bahamas.
I love children and believe that every child has value and the potential to learn.  It is my goal to be a positive influence for all of my students and instill in them a passion for life-long learning.  Students in my classroom are very active learners who are encouraged to think and solve problems.  I believe in creating a space where all children feel safe and secure and free to share their ideas and opinions.  I am committed to doing whatever it takes to help students succeed.
